‘Major step in global expansion’ with Lux* Hotels’ upcoming Bodrum debut

09 May 2017
Lux* Hotels is set to open a new resort and residences in Bodrum, Turkey next month, and has several projects in the pipeline, including new locations in the Maldives, Reunion Island and China.

Lux* Bodrum is the company’s first resort in the Mediterranean, and has won the Silver Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design Category at Milan’s A’Design Awards.

“Contrary to the traditional Mediterranean concept, we have taken a more eclectic approach by plugging in a chic, urban concept into a peninsula environment with unique flora of wild olive trees and Daphne bushes,” said architect Piril Kugu Iscan Gurcaglar. “The challenge was to create utmost comfort for guests and residents without disturbing the natural beauty.”

Gurcaglar used local materials combined with Italian goods and Turkish craftsmanship to create the destination, which includes a Lux* Me spa, fitness facilities, outdoor space for yoga and Pilates, and a ‘wellness trail.’

The five-treatment-room spa uses aromatherapy for its results-focused treatments that combine detoxification, bodywork and rejuvenation. A healthy-eating menu has also been designed to complement the personalised wellness experiences.

“For us, this is a major step in our global expansion and our first venture in the Mediterranean region,” said Paul Jones, CEO of Lux*.

Lux* is also opening a second location on Reunion Island in 2018, set within a World Heritage Site. Designed in eight hectares of tropical gardens, Lux* Sud Sauvage will be a short walk from La Fournaise volcano, and will include 82 private villas along with a five-star spa and wellness centre designed to help guests tune in to nature.

The Lux* Me spa will also offer in-room massage options, along with nature walks, cycling, jogging and ‘wellness safaris,’ which feature outdoor yoga sessions.

And Lux* is adding a second Maldives location in North Male Atoll, with contemporary one- two- and three-bedroom residences spread out across the island that feature rooftop lounges, outdoor decks, private gardens and private pools.

Designed by Singapore design group Miaja “in a scheme that blends superyacht panache with a vibrant South Beach pulse,” each of the 60 double-storey residences sits on the beach or overwater, with a minimum living area of 255sq m (2,745sq ft).

The resort will include a Lux* Me Spa, along with yoga plinth, starlight whirlpool and outdoor games area. Three-floor penthouses feature their own spa, steamroom, fitness suite and oversized outdoor pools.

Lux* Hotels also has two resorts planned for China in 2018.
