Antrobus + Ramirez-designed spa hotel debuts on Montego Bay

14 Mar 2019
Miami-based design studio Antrobus + Ramirez have finished refitting the S Hotel Jamaica, a seafront resort situated on Jamaica's Montego Bay.

Boasting 120 rooms and suites, the Caribbean getaway occupies a total area of 120,000 sq ft (11,148 sq m) and features three restaurants, as well as a cafe, spa, gym, and pool.

The spa, which comprises four treatment rooms, provides a variety of wellness offerings, including "kinetic energy therapy", plunge pool baths, and massage and body scrub services.

Nail polish by Deborah Lippmann and skincare accessories from cosmetic company Natura Bissé are among the spa's highlighted products.

S Hotel – formerly known as "Breeze Montego" – has been in development since 2016, when it was first acquired by Crissa Hotels founder, Chris Issa for a reported US$12.5m (€11.6m, £9.4m).

"We're creating a new kind of hotel in Montego Bay, one that infuses modern Jamaican culture balanced with the sophistication of an urban hotel and the laid-back style of a beach resort, appealing to international travellers and locals alike," Issa explained in a statement.

Speaking at the launch, Jamaica's minister of tourism, Edmund Bartlett, said: "This property will add dimensions to Jamaica's tourism product while producing a magnificent multiplier effect as its impact ripples through the Montego Bay community and beyond."
