Lotte New York Palace to be home to first American ila Spa

21 Jun 2019
Lotte New York Palace has partnered with luxury, organic-grown skincare and lifestyle brand ila to open its first branded spa in the US.

The 7,000sq ft ila Spa at Lotte New York Palace will be managed by international consulting and management firm WTS International, and is slated to open in summer 2019.

"This project is important to WTS in that it will be a world-class showcase of our multiple disciplines to include spa, wellness, lifestyle and fitness," said Kim Matheson, senior vice president at WTS. "It includes many layers of luxury, personalisation, a sense of place, retreat, movement, mindfulness and exclusive membership – all on Madison and 51st across from the legendary St Patricks Cathedral and Saks Fifth Avenue."

Located on the eighth floor of the hotel, the ila Spa will feature holistic treatments and exclusive products and services, as well as a private yoga studio and seven treatment rooms, one of which is a VIP suite. A view of St Patrick’s Cathedral upon entry to spa was achieved by Feng Shui design expert Rosalyn Dexter.

“New York has always held a very special place in my heart, the energy and passion has always been something I have felt very strongly when I visit,” said Denise Leicester, founder of ila spa. “To develop our own ila spa in the Lotte New York Palace has been an absolute dream. We have created a menu which suits those that want to escape the fast pace of New York life but also those that are time short and want to experience our Mini Marvel treatments. When I first visited the spa area on the eighth floor I was captivated by the view – it really is something quite incredible and makes the foundation for a truly unique and beautiful spa.”

Handmade and blended in the Cotswolds area of England, each ila cream, oil, scrub, mask, candle, and fragrance is designed to balance energy and promote peace and serenity. Ingredients are sourced globally and support farmers and local communities including argan oil that comes from the Atlas Mountains, salt from the Hunza Himalayas Global Garden and Babassu oil from the native Kayapo tribe in the Amazon.

"The ila Only Spa consultation provides intuitive and personal results, which are linked to services, products and teas recommended," said Matheson. "The protocols create a gorgeous and customised experience for each guest, weaving together healing techniques such as sound healing, aromatherapy, yoga and breath work alongside customised organic and natural products."

As a holistic brand, ila Spa focuses on three distinctive pathways of wellbeing reflective in their treatments and products; The Big Sleep, Life in the Fast Lane and a Helping Hand for Hormones. Each of the three pathways include facials, massages and scrubs focused on addressing the appropriate stressors and will be available in-room prior to the official opening.

The Big Sleep offers services and products to combat digital stressors and daily pollutants with an emphasis on lack of sleep. Life in the Fast Lane helps to unwind and relieve stress such as tiredness, headaches, irritability, anxiety and muscular aches and pains. A Helping Hand for Hormones offers a range of services that reduce hormonal imbalances and adrenal fatigue.

Lotte New York Palace will also be the first spa in New York City to combine the audio developed by Plateau Spa and Devialet with their treatments. This high-impact sound system uses sound timed perfectly with massage touch to provide healing and mental escapism. The technology uses infra-frequencies, sounds that cannot be heard by the human ear but can be felt through vibrations and ripples by the body at a cellular level, creating the ultimate sensorial experience.
