Borgo Egnazia refreshes its Happiness Break retreat to start from pre-arrival

30 Jun 2020
Italian destination spa, Borgo Egnazia, has reopened to guests and updated its popular Happiness Break to begin at home, with a new set of pre-arrival digital consultations and classes.

Borgo Egnazia’s team of therapists has added a new phase to their wellness programme which aims to create balance and increase happiness through three principles: community and social interaction, a balanced healthy diet and physical activity.

Happiness at Home is a new phase which brings workshops and live sessions into guests’ homes prior to their arrival at the destination in Puglia.

Following the completion of a ‘Pro Happiness Questionnaire’ and a consultation with Aromatherapy specialist and psychologist Luca Fontana, guests will be advised on a course of video sessions tailored to meet their needs, including speaking with food technologists, meditation and yoga, functional training and cookery classes.

The update has been conceived to ensure guests begin making changes at home to increase their happiness so that on completion of the programme in Italy, they will be more likely to incorporate these habits into their day-to day routine.

“The global pandemic has given us the opportunity to reassess the way in which we deliver the wellbeing offer,’ said Erica’ D’Angelo, director of wellbeing. “Extending the Happiness Break programme enables the guest to boost their potential results during their stay because they arrive physically and mentally prepared.

“It also offers us valuable insight about the guest before they arrive and helps us work together with them to get the best out of their programme.”

The second existing phase of the Happiness Break takes place at Borgo Egnazia and will see guests receive guidance regarding nutrition and physical activity as well as activities linked to traditional Apulian culture.

Guests will also take part in an ‘Art of Laughter’ workshop dedicated to the science-based benefits of laughter, a range of spa treatments and a selection of fitness and movement classes, as well as daily use of the destination’s sauna, Turkish bath, indoor swimming pool and gym.

The Happiness Break is available as a three or six-day programme and has starting costs of €2010 (£1,813, US$2,255) and €3830 (£3,450, US$4,291) per person, respectively, which includes accommodation and transfers.
