ESPA designs holistic treatment series for One&Only and will plant at least one tree for every ritual booked

21 Oct 2021
Luxury resort operator One&Only Resorts and international skincare and spa brand ESPA have partnered to bring new spa programming to select One&Only resorts.

Named Nature’s Resonance by ESPA, the concept is crafted to re-connect guests’ minds, bodies and senses to the environment around them through the use of binaural beats, soundscapes, nature and massage patterns.

“We’re committed to delivering expertly crafted treatment experiences and, by harnessing the essence of each One&Only Resort location, together we can deliver an unforgettable moment in some of the world’s most exceptional locations of natural beauty,” said Daniel Golby, general manager at ESPA.

Within the series, three treatment options are available: a 30-minute sound experience, a 60-minute body experience and a 90-minute face and body experience.

Each is a sensorial immersion guided by the natural surroundings of the property and incorporates three key moments of listening, absorbing and transforming.

The treatment journeys
First, guests experience a pre-treatment consultation including a grounding ritual with a focus on the feet to draw roots to the surrounding area of each location.

Guests then move to the treatment bed and experience the encompassing sound element through choreographed massage movements performed in sync with the rhythm of a soundscape inspired by the essence and landscape of their chosen resort.

During each ritual, guests wear Bose headphones to listen to the soundscape that’s layered with Binaural Beats – an auditory therapy created by playing one tonal frequency in your left ear and a slightly different frequency in your right ear – to influence the vibrational energy of each guest.

The difference in tones creates an auditory illusion of a third tone in our brain - a Binaural Beat - claimed to reduce anxiety, increase focus, lower stress, promote creativity and help manage pain.

To continue the experiential journey for guests post-treatment, each resort offers aftercare activities to support both physical and mental wellbeing.

Resort workshops, classes and excursions allow for further connection to the destination, while keepsake crystals, meditations and vibrational food suggestions are offered to guests once they depart to help them maintain and restore their vibrational energy at home.

To complete the offering, ESPA is working in partnership with eco-tech platform More: Trees, to support its commitment to sustainability.

For every Nature’s Resonance treatment booked globally, trees are planted according to the length of treatment; one tree for the 30-minute sound experience; three trees for the 60-minute body experience; and five trees for the 90-minute face and body experience.

Additionally, at select properties, guests who book a 90- minute treatment are invited to plant a seed at the resort in which they stay as an opportunity to give thanks and support the natural surroundings celebrated during Nature’s Resonance.

The new treatment series will be available at One&Only Reethi Rah, Maldives and One&Only Royal Mirage, Dubai in 2021.

In 2022, the concept will be rolled out to One&Only Cape Town, South Africa, One&Only Le Saint Géran, Mauritius and One&Only Palmilla, Mexico
