The Ritz Paris spa receives floral-inspired makeover

06 Oct 2022
High-end French hotel The Ritz Paris has reopened the doors to its spa following a comprehensive overhaul and redesign.

“Flowers are the vibrant heart of this timeless new The Ritz Club & Spa, a space also inspired by important women in the hotel’s history such as Marie Louise Ritz, Ingrid Bergman and Zelda Fitzgerald,” said Natalie Bader Messian, member of the Ritz Paris Board of Directors, which initiated the project.

The floral inspiration is apparent as soon as guests follow the stairwell down to the spa which is illuminated by an intricate spherical pendant light composed of delicate porcelain flowers.

Understated floral-inspired design details also define the decor in the reception area; a space completed with a crisp white, pale blue and gold palette.

In a further nod to the design inspiration, all treatment rooms are named after a flower and decorated with hand-painted floral murals and a ceiling light composed of hundreds of porcelain flowers.

Flowers have also been used to inspire The Ritz Club & Spa’s four new signature massage treatments. Each is named after and inspired by a certain flower.

The Iris, Jasmine and Edelweiss rituals are available as either 60- or 90-minute treatments (€215, US$213, £189 // €305, US$301, £268), while the exclusive Rose Ritual lasts 110 minutes (€420, US$415, £369).

The Ritz Club & Spa also offers body treatments and facials in partnership with French brand Biologique Recherche.

In addition, guests can access Manicurist nail treatments, makeup services supplied by Serge Lutens and hair styling by Australian hairstylist David Mallet.

“Innovative treatments, exceptional personalised and caring service and a unique experience in a legendary elegant setting define our new spa,” added Bader Messian.

The spa’s wet and thermal facilities include a sauna, hammam and a mosaic-tiled pool sat beneath a 180sq m trompe l’oeil ceiling painted to look like the sky.

The Ritz Club & Spa is also home to a Matrix-equipped fitness studio which provides access to more than 40 classes a week spanning 15 disciplines, such as aqua cycling, boxing, Pilates, Hatha yoga, circuit training and stretching.

As part of the overhaul, The Ritz Paris has launched a Private Club which provides members access to the gym and pool.

For day guests to qualify for complimentary use of the fitness and wellness facilities, guests must spend more than €530 (US$524, £465) in treatments per person. Alternatively, with the purchase of treatments costing €220 (US$217, £193) or more, guests can pay an additional €120 (US$119, £105) to gain a day pass to the facilities.

Guests complete their journey in The Ritz Club & Spa retail boutique, decorated with a striking ceiling featuring classical mouldings and luminous porcelain flowers.

The space features a selection of brands including Hygée, LA.BR, Le Baigneur and Ebenholz, as well as Bioloqigue Recherche, Serge Lutens, Manicurist and Ritz Paris. The boutique will also accommodate pop-ups hosted by well-known brands throughout the year.
